Route: Sierra Nevada – Mulhacén – Dúrcal, ~50 km
An refreshing escape from a 40o heat in Granada after a conference.
The path across the north face of Mulhacén (the highest peak in Sierra Nevada) was very peculiar – a perfectly walkable trail across a seemingly very steep rock wall.
The trail down the Lanjarón valley (Verea Cortá) looked as if it were an old railroad or cart track (well levelled and clad with stone blocks), though the slope at some places was clearly incompatible with this scenario.
